Zero article in English is a topic that often confuses beginners.
We are used to that in English there is almost always a, an or the… but there are actually many situations where we don’t use any article.
When we say simply life is beautiful, and not the life?
Why do we say people like music, no member?

The main idea: when we talk in general
We use the zero article when we talk about things in a general sense, not for anything in particular.
Life is beautiful.
People need water.
Music makes me happy.
👉 We’re talking about things like concepts, not specific cases.
With plural
When we use plural nouns in a general sense:
Dogs are friendly.
Cars are expensive.
Books are useful.
❌ The dogs are friendly (unless we are talking about specific dogs)
With uncountable nouns
A very important rule:
Water is important.
Money is useful.
Information is valuable.
👉 We can’t say a water or a money in this sense.
With names of languages, subjects and activities
I speak English.
She studies history.
They play football.
👉 No member here either.
A common mistake: we add the unnecessarily
Bulgarians often say:
❌ The life is beautiful.
✔️ Life is beautiful.
❌ The music is important.
✔️ Music is important.
How to remember it
The logic at zero article in English it becomes much clearer when you think about whether you are talking about something general or specific.
Ask yourself the question:
👉 Am I talking about something specific or something general?
If general → often no member.
